It’s a bit funny how the people who are against net neutrality are claiming evil corporate freedom schemes, when the real corporate evil would be in keeping the internet from being free! I’m only analyzing recent history here. Still I’m very excited about FCC Chairman Genachowski’s clarity on the significance of this issue, and his apparent good intention in keeping Internet openness for the people. Still I’m curious about ISPs being allowed to “managed their networks”, and prevent “heavy users from crowding out everyone else”. I’m also curious as to whether or not the FCC will play a role in encouraging faster connection speeds. We'll see.
OpenInternet.gov is a place to join the discussion about the more important issues facing the future of the Internet. Through their site you can stay connected to all Federal Communication Commission activities on the issue, and share your thoughts and ideas on open Internet. The site is currently in ‘Beta,’ and will continue to adapt to best facilitate input and participation in the commission proceedings as this discussion evolves. This conversation will be fair, open, and deliberate; and we want to ensure that the opportunity to participate is open to everyone.
If you buy or reinstall a new PC, you want it to be productive right now. In addition to the OS, you want a basic tool-set of low cost applications and no-compromises. This entry is the first of a series of articles on which we aim to offer application tool-sets tailored for specific needs. This first entry focuses on 'core' applications used in general by most consumer and small business users. Please visit us again for other interesting editions.
This list the roundup of core office tools. Notice that we tried to be as platform independent as possible, as you do not need to be locked into a specific OS to be productive. Do you have other favorite applications? Please register and let us know via the comments below.
Some people equate open source to free of payment software, but this not necessarily true, nor the most important aspect of the open source movement. Actually, all business people know that "there is nothing like a free lunch". Even when software is free of license cost, there is at least an implicit cost of implementation.
Lot of people see this cloud model as the Future of computing "In theory back to the mainframe". MS Office 2010/Sharepoinrt is on it, Linux , etc. Like it or not, it will happen. Maybe not now, maybe not tomorrow, but IT will happen. We won't say good-bye to all of the peripherals (for example, Music Players), but with access to our stuff from ANYWHERE in the World we'll stop using most of them. Right now, It's not a viable option for normal users, but in the future we'll find replacements for the software we all need. Let us know what you think. The question might seem unnecessary for most of us, but apparently a lot of people do not understand what is a web browser. I have certainly faced the challenge to attempt to explain this to my dad more than once. Either this is a difficult concept to understand and he forgets it always, or may be he makes me believe that he gets it, just to get over this topic and return to Facebook. Anyway, here is a video that attempts to explain what a browser is.
The best of this video is that it seeds the next topic: select your favorite browser. It highlights the importance of your browser and why you need to select a fast browser that serves you well. The icons of four (4) popular browsers are shown. Check the video below to have some fun on what the people think a web browser is.
We all have to admit that MS Office "es el caballo" de Microsoft. And Office 2010 is shaping up to be an important release. Just as "Windows 7 refined Vista, so Office 2010 refines Office 2007, building on Microsoft's telemetry and user research to deliver a fine-tuned and responsive user interface, along with new collaboration features aimed at distributed workforces" The opinion for now is that it's not perfect, and there are still plenty of niggles — but there's some six months to go before launch, giving Microsoft time to respond to the feedback that millions of beta copies will deliver. Have you tried Office 2010 Beta? Let us know what you think. You can download it for free here:: http://www.microsoft.com/office/2010.
